David Valdez

David Valdez

Growing up in Southern California, David was introduced to volleyball in junior high. He went to Carson High School playing 1 year of junior varsity for International Volleyball Hall of Famer Catalino Ignacio. His love for the sport increased as he played 2 years of varsity earning the team's best passer award as a junior (1993), CIF Los Angeles City All Pacific League 4A 1st Team Honors selection (1994), and a Marine league championship (1994). He played as an outside and opposite hitter. During college, David worked in fitness at a YMCA as a certified trainer and supervisor for members of various ages and fitness levels. He obtained a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Long Beach State and an Associate Degree in general studies from El Camino College. David continued to give back to the community coaching as an associate for Mountain House AYSO soccer (2010) and as a Head Coach for the Mountain House Youth Basketball league (2012). After retiring from law enforcement, David returned to the volleyball court with more time to dedicate. His volleyball coaching experience includes currently working as an associate coach at Merrill F. West High School (2015-today); Co-coach for the Valley Rebels Volleyball Club 14U (2016); and an assistant coach for the Pacific Coast Volleyball Club 15-2 (2017). His certifications include NFHS Accredited Interscholastic Coach Level 1, NFHS Coaching Volleyball, and USA Volleyball IMPACT and SafeSport. He enjoys traveling, training, and spending time with his wife and 4 kids (3 of them who play volleyball). David feels truly blessed to be part of the Pacific Coast Volleyball Family.
